Great place to eat. Great food and great service, I highly recommend it!
The ladies were very nice and helpful! Their menu had many options and I enjoyed the small home town setting inside. Their food was definitely dinner food, not must for an bold flavor.
My husband ordered an item off of the specials menu - It had a Hawaiian twist with 2 scoops of rice 1 prawn, 1 halibut, Kalua teriyaki beef which was awesome, and a scoop of pulled shredded pork!!! All for $20 and that would have said both of us. I ordered another special with blue cod and chips and it was equally very tasty. Sadly I did not take a picture this time but trust me the specials are great@ the service is friendly and good as well. This isn't your typical 5-star place but it's 5 stars to us because of the food and the service.
While on vacation, I tried some halibut and chips. It was fantastic, but it was quite costly. It cost around fifteen dollars for one meal. Cost aside, it was very filling. I recommend this place to those that want a great meal, but are prepared to pay up for it.
Great halibut & prawns! French fries - nothing special and too many of them.
We were looking for a nice sit down restraunt This didnt even rate as a fast food place. Very high prices. Serves food stuffed in paper baskets not on plates. No silverware. Drinks are $3 for a root beer in a paper cup. Brought food to table never asked if we wanted anything else. We would of had better service at McDonald's at least they have silverware.
The fish and chips were tasty! But we couldn't tell much of a difference between the cod and the halibut - which was double the price.
Closed before 7:00.... So no experience
Reasonably priced. Cod was good. Salad was good. Blue cheese dressing was really good. Waitress not very friendly or welcoming.
Great food but pricey for the small amount of fish I got.
The halibut was delicious!
The fresh cod and the prawns were amazzing!!! Pass on the fries next time. Very affordable. I suggest you eat here everytime you have a hankering for halibut or cod in Valdez.
Four stars is about right. Good fish, but the fries are lacking. Think McDonalds fries but not much taste. The fish is on par with most other deep fried fish houses. Good, but nothing to write home about. If they made just a few adjustments like better fries, it would be five stars.
Love halibut house my first job I ever had.... Great food food people.....
The fish was dry. The vegetables selection in the salad bar limited. The clam chowder flat.
Badass grind dat place! Best food in Valdez.. most affordable too
Their food rocks! Thank you for being here!
Very good fish and chips!
Liked to be here, but not like in Subway. I recommend double cheeseburger. I think it's just under $7. WiFi is available but don't expect some speed.
I got the chicken ranch bacon sandwich which was delicious. It satisfied hunger. The service was good and the food options were great! Nice cozy little restaurant!
Service was not so hot, food was sparce only good thing was the halibut...fries from frozen, and salad bar ok.
Fast and good carbroiled burgers
We ordered a Halibut fish and chips, split a basket for lunch. The fish was fresh, excellent, and delivered fast. The restaurant was what I expected from a fish and chips shop. Great food.
Good food. Good service. Not bad by any means.
Don't know if it's good they were closed ON A SUNDAY !
Fish was rubbery, lots of dark meat in the halibut fillets. Not impressed at all.
If you like everything deep-fried your fine. I would think you should have different ways of preparing the halibit. And they are a little pricey.
Pretty affordable as far as dine in places go in Valdez. Food quality was great. Bar food style but they bring it to your table after you order at the front. Fried seafood and burgers. They would get my return service.
The fresh fish is out of this world.
Stopped here for lunch. Fried food over a large bed of Fries. More Fries than fish. Clam chowder tasted more like potato paste than clam chowder. Prices were exorbitant for so little substance. Would not recommend .
Absolutely the best fish and chips! I had catch of the day. So freash and tasty. Not overcooked. I will visit again this weekend.
Excellent restaurant! Halibut is worth every bite! Family owned & operated, our first time to Valdez & they live up to their reputation!!
Good meals fair deals easy to find.
I paid $25 for a halibut basket but got Oily cod or rock fish instead . I know halibut. It’s dry and flaky. What they gave us was not halibut. It was slimy, oily and gross. The waitress looked at the receipt to confirm it was halibut when I complained instead of looking at the fish on my plate. Very dishonest and sneaky. I don’t recommend this place unless you want to pay top dollar for greasy fish that is nothing like halibut
Best halibut basket in Valdez.. and significantly cheaper than anything at the waterfront. This is where the locals go. Get a deal on the catch of the day or just stick to the halibut favorites. Take it to go and picnic by the water or sit inside to enjoy on a rainy day. Currently they are open 11-3 during the covid season.
I've been going here since I was a kid. The food is pretty typical fast food, good but not high end by any means. Prices are low for Valdez but definitely not like McDonald's low. Service is usually okay. The service is not particularly rude, but nobody goes out of their way to be polite either. All in all, I really like this place and visit regularly for lunch.
Great place. Fish was fresh and perfectly fried, batter was crisp. Order at counter, friendly staff. Casual Family dining.
It's fast food not that good
The Alaska Halibut House was a huge hit with the whole family. The food was delicious—halibut, prawns, and fries were all yummy. We tried to go back for a late dinner but they had already closed. The staff took our orders and delivered the food but that was it. Not a whole lot of welcoming or friendly vibes. The parking lot was a little difficult to get in and out of (would not recommend attempting with a travel trailer or large motorhome).
Burger and Fry’s were pretty good, almost had a similar taste to McDonalds. The cashiers could have been a lot more friendly.
Fine lunch and the catch of the day is $11. The sauces were delicious and plentiful. We enjoyed our lunch and will probably go back again.
Mediocre food. Mediocre service. High price. I ordered a halibut sandwich and got something I would expect to get from MacDonalds.
Cafeteria style eating. You pay for everything. Salad is optional pay for eat with each meal. The halibut and rock fish are good and prices in medium range. They keep costs down by using cafeteria style eating.
Order at the counter style. I believe all seafood options are breaded and fried.
Food was good but a bit pricey for fast food.
Not a sit down eatery. It's like fast food. Fish was greasy and batter was not very good. Lots of limp fries.
Nice lunch
Was good but a bit expensive for what it was.
Very fast service, super friendly local people.
8.25 for a sandwich,no side and no drink other than tap water and the glass had lipstick on it. The service was horrible. The girl totally ignored me and I had to wait almost five minutes to sign my receipt because she was talking to another employee. The sandwich tasted old and freezer burnt and now my stomach is upset. Don't expect them to greet you when you walk in or bring your food to you or say have a nice day or see you when you leave. I will never go back there nor recommend it to anyone. A sandwich from the grocery store would have been better
